Things That Make Me Go Ooh La La: June 18-23 2012

Feeling Hot Hot Hot! Yes ya'll it was a steaming hot week literally. Officially NYC had a heat wave and surely the summer fashionistas came out in full force. Summer is my favorite season because I really get to flex my fashion muscles with lovely footwear, accessories, and beautiful dresses. I'm such a girly girl! This week I was able to attend the HBA EXPO 2012 at Jacob Javits Center so look out for a recap on The Style and Beauty Doctor, I will also feature some of the up and coming exhibitors that I met here on miss merli in nyc as well as post photos on my Facebook page. I also attended Karen of Karen's Body Beautiful and Myliek of Curlbox meet and greet, where I got to meet up with Tia Williams of Shake That Beauty  As always you know how much I get photo happy when I'm out and about so sit back and enjoy what Merli saw in NYC this week.

Customized to be Perfect for You!

Hello Beautiful People!

Its always great for me to find new ways to feed my addiction to everything fashion forward and beautiful. So in my daily twitter netoworking and blog reading I came across a really great blog you may of heard of it Gorgeous in Gray with Ty Alexander, love her blog and I'm a happy subscriber. Recently she has put up a giveaway up from eShatkti, a clothing & accessory website that does customization of clothing based on your measurements. While this concept is not new, I love the fact that the clothing is affordable and chic. I love that those two words are in the same sentence with clothing. Ranging anywhere from 14.95 to about 200 the cost to customize will cost you only an extra 7.50 yes less than what it would cost to send it to the cleaners. One better service is that eShakti caters to the very thin and extra voluptuous starting from 0-26. I'm in love already. As soon as I make my first order I will share with you my final verdict which based on other reviews will be a favorable one but until then make sure to enter Ms. Ty's contest on her website to win a chance to get your own Frock! Until then beautiful people... check out a few of my faves below

My Sister's Prom

Hello Beautiful people,

What an evening it was waiting almost 3 hours for my sister to come home so I can do her makeup only for her to come and leave only about 15 minutes to do her full makeup. While some would say that was enough time, for me it wasn't especially since she had an eye brow that needed assistance. Nevertheless I did what I could do in  a short amount of time and she turned out beautiful. I used all MAC on her because that was her request and utilized the silver pigment from the Surf Baby line. In hindsight I would've done something a little more subdued for my sis since I feel like she doesn't do makeup so I don't feel like she carried it in terms of posing but hey it still worked. She is the lady in red.  I also took pictures of "standout" dresses. My personal feeling is that I feel most of the ladies either tried to hard or didn't try at all. I liked "most" of the dresses but felt like it was normal club wear. Nothing stood out to me. My favorite other than my sister was the young girl in the golden dress though I would've made it just a tad bit longer and the cups on the breast more constructed she was one dip away from falling out which is because she wore no support nor did the dress have built in. Then there was the wedding dress... I didn't like it. And the zebra print was a good attempt but I drowned in the ruffles uggh when you're a thick girl ruffles are not your friend. Then there was the young lady whom tried to bring lingerie to the prom failed attempt at sexy. I hated the makeup I hated the dress but what hurt more was that she wore black undergarments and how do I know well because I saw it right through the dress patterns and all. One day they might look back and see the errors of their ways I hope lol.
