Gabrielle's Prom Look

Hey Beautiful People,

Let's get right into it. As always with any special day no matter how organized or how much time there is somehow or another I'm always left with little time to do my job as an artist but what many don't know is that I'm so good under pressure and work great that way. Any who I worked on Gabrielle Grubb who is a senior in high school graduating and going on to Old Westbury... Yay Gabby! Here is her before...

And here is her after shot.....

RECAP: International Beauty Show NYC 2012

Hello Beautiful People,

I had a great time covering IBS which for the most part was a keratine hair fest. There were sprinkles of beauty brands such as Stila, Gorgeous Cosmetics (so glad they were there I purchased some palettes stay tuned for a review), Eve Pearl, Royal and Langnickel, Essie, Minx Nails and Columbia Cosmetics just to name the few. Certainly diversity wasn't plentiful here the place was over ran with keratine and hair companies and not many that catered to natural hair. The  standout companies in my mind that did so were Hair Rules (stay tuned for a review), Yarok, Curls (who I didn't see) and Mixed Chicks. I was also able to attend at the Jacob Javits Center the International Esthetics, Cosmetics, and Spa Conference on the lower level which had tons of skin care lines including Clarasonic, Dermalogica, VMV Hypoallergenics, Decleor Paris, Eminence, and Michael Marcus Cosmetics to name a few. In hindsight maybe that was a good thing but I did expect an even mix of everything. Never the less I was thoroughly entertained and my card did its fair share of swiping because there was some great deals. In the next following posts I will feature some of the beauty brands and reviews since I certainly don't want to overwhelm all at once. In short this isn't the show for makeup artists (go to the Makeup Show) it more so caters to hair stylists and estheticians but if you want to be well rounded and offer the best of everything attend in the future because you won't be disappointed.

EDUCATION ALERT! Are You Going to IBS New York?

Hello Beautiful People,

IBS NYC 2012 Apr 22-24 2012

In an attempt to ensure that everyone knows about the various ways to get educated in the Beauty industry, I wanted to shed light on another conference that takes place here in New York every year. The International Beauty Show is for BEAUTY PROFESSIONALS ONLY.  In other words be able to show "proof" that you work in the hair, nail, or beauty industry. Although this show is a lot more Hair focused there will be a concentrated pool of great beauty companies that will be exhibiting including my faves Eve Pearl, Royal and Langnickel, Stila, and Blinc. Kim Gray will be showing you how to achieve a "Clean Beauty Look", Eve Peal will be showing you achieve flawless corrective beauty, and Kevin James Bennett will be showing you how to edit and redefine runway looks to glamour, red carpet and modern looks for everyday women. This is only the tip of the iceberg there will be over 500 exhibitors and 100 plus free classes and shows taking place. Tickets are still available so if you fit the criteria make sure to register. Below you'll find some of the class offerings.

Who is the Blackest Pencil Liner in the Land?

Hello Beautiful People,

On a recent browsing at Sephora I decided to swatch some of the blackest pencil liners that were available in store at that point. I will note that Make Up For Ever's liner was sold out at the time so its not apart of this swatch test. I was on a mission to find the BLACKEST liner available that at the same time wouldn't move. I tested the following brands:

  • Stila
  • Nars
  • Clique
  • Too Faced
  • Benefit's Bad Gal Liner
  • Buxom
  • Sephora

 Here are the swatches ...
Stila, Nars, Clinique, Too Faced, Benefits Bad Gal Liner, Buxom, and Sephora
So who won?

1st Place: STILA
2nd Place: TOO FACED
3rd Place: Buxom

Who stayed on the longest? I used makeup remover and a pad and the two that I had to really scrub off was  STILA and TOO FACED with STILA being the winner. So there you have it. Go get your STILA!
