First and foremost I want to thank everyone who continues to read and follow my blog. I've bene going through transitions both on my blog and in reality nevertheless I'm thankful for your continued loyalty and interest. Just know great things are to come and I can't wait to share more beauty, fashion, and life in the concrete jungle. Things that Make Me Go Oh La La: May 7-11 2012

Hello Beautiful People,

What a week it has been for me... I say that and it sounds as if I had the most exciting one ever but nope quite the contrary its been a constant test where it seemed as if I was failing. Food poisoning and struggles at work turned into a trip to the hospital because of course I wasn't taking care of myself and just breathing. Sometimes we take for granted that we aren't immortal and need to slow down but also ensure that all times that we are checking ourselves to ensure excellence and integrity in all that we do. Lesson learned. Welp I will not further bore you with my life lessons lets see what caught my eyes this week.

Makeup Show News Get Your Nars!

Hello Beautiful People,

More and more I'm contemplating leaving my credit card at home so I don't fall victim to the amazing discounts that are going to be taking place at NYC Makeup Show. New to the selling floor this year is NARS finally selling product at the show in 2011 they made their appearance but only offered a discount station (artist discount) this time around they didn't want to disappoint.

NARS Cosmetics will make its official debut at The Makeup Show NYC on May 13th and 14th at Metropolitan Pavilion with a 413 BLKR pop-up shop, a nod to the brand's flagship boutique and shopping destination for the New York City makeup artist community. The shop will boast the boutique's signature black, white and 'Jungle Red' décor, bringing a touch of Founder and Creative Director Francois Nars' vision to The Makeup Show's professional makeup artist community.

Among the available 200 SKUs selected for artists by Director of Global Artistry James Boehmer will be the limited-edition 413 BLKR collection, newest Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, the brand's best-selling Orgasm Blush and limited-quantity makeup palettes from the NARS archives. James Boehmer (Director of Global Artistry), Uzo (International Lead Stylist) and Jenny Smith (Lead Stylist) will make special appearances, offering tips, insight and product recommendations.

In addition to shopping, the NARS 413 BLKR pop-up shop will offer select times for on-site discount-registration with the appropriate proof of artistry (for a list of criteria, see below).

NARS Artist Program Criteria (All documents must be dated within the past two years)
NARS Artist (40% discount for professional artists) - Submit two of the following: Agency Representation Proof, Union Card, Magazine Tears, Contract/Agreement for beauty/grooming services with TV/Film/Print company
NARS Industry (30% discount for professional artists or press) - Submit one of the following: Cosmetology License, Proof of Bridal/Special Events Services
NARS Apprentice (25% discount for students enrolled in an accredited makeup artistry program) - Submit proof of enrollment with an accredited school including website and registrar contact; or certification from an accredited program including website and registrar contact of school.

The Makeup Show NYC is held on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 9am to 6pm and on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 9am to 5pm at Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, New York, NY. Who is the Blackest Pencil Liner in the Land?

Hello Beautiful People,

On a recent browsing at Sephora I decided to swatch some of the blackest pencil liners that were available in store at that point. I will note that Make Up For Ever's liner was sold out at the time so its not apart of this swatch test. I was on a mission to find the BLACKEST liner available that at the same time wouldn't move. I tested the following brands:

Stila
Nars
Clique
Too Faced
Benefit's Bad Gal Liner
Buxom
Sephora

So who won?

1st Place: STILA

2nd Place: TOO FACED

3rd Place: Buxom

Who stayed on the longest? I used makeup remover and a pad and the two that I had to really scrub off was STILA and TOO FACED with STILA being the winner. So there you have it. Go get your STILA!
